Fuseboard upgrades
in Hull, East Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire.
A considered upgrade at the heart of your electrics.
Replacing a fuse box starts with understanding what it supplies. We’ll look at your existing installation and discuss the work needed for your home.

Look beyond the box on the wall.
Existing circuits
The condition of the wiring and circuits matters when planning a consumer unit replacement.
Your plans
Mention an EV charger, battery or building work so we can consider what else the supply may need to support.
Access and timing
We’ll discuss access to the board and affected areas, and plan the interruption to your power.
Understand the work before it starts.
An older fuseboard doesn’t tell the whole story. We’ll discuss assessment of the installation and any issues that need attention alongside a replacement.
A new consumer unit is not a substitute for repairing faults elsewhere. The quote should reflect the condition of your electrics and the agreed scope, rather than assuming the board is the only work required.

“We hired John for some electrical work as part of our extensive house renovations. It was refreshing to find a trades-person like John after having a spate of other tradespeople for our building work let us down at the last minute. John contacted me and arranged to come out and look at the job. He came out when he said he would, quoted us by email, and then came out and did the work when he said he would. He fitted a new 54amp circuit to our existing consumer unit for an outbuilding, replacing the existing fuses for MCBOs, and running an armored cable to a 3 fuse consumer unit in the outbuilding. The work was done to a high standard and he did did exactly what was quoted, laying on the outside concrete floor for some time to fit the cabling on a particularly cold day, no complaining, no issues, just got on and did the work. John was friendly, and was happy to both recommend solutions but also take on board our requirements. We won't hesitate to ask John to do any future electrical work. Recommended.”

“John Day Services recently fitted a new RCD board for me as well as installing outdoor electrics to my office and shed, and I couldn’t be happier with the work carried out. Everything was completed professionally, neatly, and to a very high standard. John was reliable, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly throughout the job. The installation was done efficiently and everything works perfectly. It’s great to find someone who takes real pride in their work. I would highly recommend John Day Services to anyone needing electrical work done.”

Questions about fuseboard upgrades
Is a fuseboard the same as a consumer unit?
People often use “fuse box” or “fuseboard” for the equipment distributing electricity around the home. Consumer unit is the usual term for a modern domestic board.
Does an old fuseboard mean I need a rewire?
Not on its own. The wiring needs assessment. We’ll explain the findings and discuss whether the work is limited to the board or includes other parts of the installation.
Will the power need to be off?
Yes, replacement work requires the supply to be isolated. Tell us about anything that depends on continuous power so arrangements can be discussed before a date is agreed.
Can you quote from a photograph?
A closed-cover photograph is a useful starting point, but it cannot establish the condition of the circuits. We’ll discuss what assessment is needed before confirming the scope and price.
