John

50 years in the trade

I went into the trade straight from school in May 1976, as an apprentice under the old CITB scheme with Wally Mays in Hull. I still enjoy it, because it’s an ever-changing trade.

Away from work: Ham radio, supporting Hull City, sponsoring grassroots boys’ and girls’ football

4 years in the trade

I’ve worked many jobs, from Siemens Gamesa to video animation, without settling on any of them. After stepping away from ABP I started working for my dad, and slowly found I enjoyed it. I then started an apprenticeship, which I’m nearing the end of now.

Away from work: PC gaming, airsoft, Warhammer 40k
