One of our installations · Hull

More than a charger
on the wall.

For this home in Hull, we installed a SyncEnergy EV Charger, Socketed, Mode 3, 7.4kW. The main challenge was the cable route.

The work involved drilling under the floor and taking the supply to the centre of the house. Planning that route was an important part of the installation, alongside fitting the charger outside.

These photographs show the finished charger, the external cable route, wiring during installation and testing at the charger.

Questions about home charging

How much does an EV charger installation cost?

The charger model, cable route and distance from your fuseboard all affect the price, along with any work needed on your existing electrics. Send your postcode and a photo of your parking space. We’ll discuss the scope and provide a quote for your home rather than assume every installation is the same.

Can you help me choose a charger?

Yes. Tell us which vehicle you have or are expecting, where you park and any charger you have in mind. We can discuss the options alongside your existing electrical supply.

Where can the charger go?

We’ll discuss a practical position based on your parking space, cable reach and the route back to your electrical supply. Send a photo of the space, including the nearby wall or proposed mounting position.

Do I need a new fuseboard?

That depends on your existing installation. We assess the supply and protection needed before recommending any changes; a new fuseboard is not something to assume in advance.

What happens before installation?

We start with your vehicle, parking space and preferred charger position. We’ll discuss the cable route, access and existing electrical supply, and whether a visit is needed before quoting. Tell us about any planned building work so the charger can be considered alongside it.

Can I schedule charging overnight?

Smart charging allows you to schedule when the vehicle charges. The settings available depend on the charger and vehicle. Tell us about your electricity tariff and usual driving routine so we can discuss the features you need; a particular saving is not guaranteed.

What if I rent or have shared parking?

Tell us who owns the parking space and whether you have permission to make changes. Shared parking, communal supplies and cable routes need individual assessment. We’ll discuss what is practical before recommending a charger.
